Plant Care Guide
Welcome to the Mossara Farms Care Page!
We believe plants thrive when given the right balance of light, water, and love. Whether you’re a beginner or a passionate collector, this guide will help you keep your plants healthy, vibrant, and long-lasting.
Light Requirements
Bright, Indirect Light
Perfect for most tropical plants like Philodendrons, Monsteras, Alocasias, and Calatheas. Place them near a bright window with filtered light — but avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch their leaves.
Low-Light Friendly Plants
ZZ Plants, Snake Plants, and Parlor Palms thrive in shaded corners or offices with limited natural light.
Direct Sun Lovers
Succulents and cacti (e.g., Jade Plants, Aloe, White Ghost Cactus) need several hours of direct sunlight daily.
Watering Tips
-
General Rule: Water when the top 2–3 cm (1 inch) of soil feels dry.
 -
Overwatering Warning: Yellowing leaves or soggy soil often signal too much water. Always use pots with drainage holes.
 -
Humidity Needs: Plants like Calatheas, Ferns, and Alocasias love higher humidity. Mist occasionally or place near a humidifier.
 -
Succulents & Cacti: Let soil dry out completely before watering again.

Soil & Repotting
-
Use well-draining soil mixes for tropical plants.
 -
For succulents & cacti, sandy, fast-draining soil works best.
 -
Repot every 12–18 months or when roots outgrow the pot. Choose a pot 2–3 cm larger than the old one.

Fertilizing
-
Spring & Summer (Growing Season): Feed every 2–4 weeks with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer.
 -
Fall & Winter: Reduce or pause feeding as growth naturally slows.
 -
Specialty Plants: Orchids, succulents, and other unique varieties may need specific fertilizers (see individual product pages).

Pet Safety
Some plants are toxic to cats and dogs. For peace of mind, explore our Pet-Safe Collection featuring Calatheas, Peperomias, Hoyas, and Palms.
If unsure, always keep plants out of your pets’ reach.
Seasonal Care
-
Winter: Keep away from heaters or drafty windows. Water less often.
 -
Summer: Increase watering and misting to prevent dryness.
 -
Spring & Autumn: Perfect seasons for repotting, fertilizing, and pruning.

Common Problems & Solutions
-
Yellow Leaves → Overwatering or poor drainage. Check soil moisture.
 -
Brown Leaf Tips → Low humidity or tap water sensitivity. Use filtered water and mist often.
 -
Drooping Leaves → Underwatering or too much direct sunlight. Adjust placement and watering.
 -
Pests (spider mites, aphids) → Wipe leaves with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
